Ghosties!

I learned last night that we have ghosts in our house! I was exchanging emails with the previous owner and I mentioned that I had seen something dark run by a mirror in the dining room. I thought it was Greg, but then realized he was outside. Also I sometimes smell smoke in one of the hallways (wood smoke, like from a fire). But Greg just thinks I’m nuts. Here’s the previous owner’s response:

>>Well, Kim has seen that ghost as well. Also, sometimes in the middle bedroom we smell someone smoking a cigarette. We once had a Ouija board session and talked to a number of people still hanging around on the third floor, some were previous owners. A friendly bunch and happy about how the house was doing.

Mystery Flower

Anyone know what this flower is? We found it in the yard last night. Looks like it belongs in the artichoke family (is there such a thing?)

Update:
It’s a cornflower. Comes up every two years.

The Pants

…that was a great Trip Shakespeare song, remember?

So yesterday I got to work and wasn’t feeling well. I’d been feeling really fat lately. Maybe because I know I’m supposed to be losing weight, not gaining it. But I can’t stop eating those new Star Wars Dark Side Dark Chocolate M & Ms. Man, they’re tasty.

Anyway, so I’m sitting in my office feeling like Jabba the Hut and thinking how I must have gained ten pounds in the last two days because I am wearing my “fat jeans” and they’re tight. They are pair of 501s I bought based solely on the size they were around the waist and when I got them home, were at least two sizes to big. I wear them when I want to be comfortable. But today they were tight. I mean really tight. Like I felt like I was going to puke all day.

Well, at one point during the day I took a pee break. I realized at this time that they have a zipper. I could have sworn my fat jeans were button fly. Then I remembered that when I was padding around this house this morning the pant legs kept getting caught under my feet. I know they’re longer than they need to be, but that had never happened before. So I looked at the size on the back…sure enough. They’re Greg’s jeans. Levi’s 560s. No wonder they fit so weirdly. Huge in the leg, tight in the waist. And yes, Greg does have a two-inch smaller waist size than I. But that’s because, like most men, his tummy is on top of his jeans.

What a relief to know I had not gained ten pounds in two days; I just grabbed the wrong pants.

I celebrated with a bag of Dark Chocolate Peanut M & Ms. Oh come on, Greg helped

Reno 911

So apparently I am three seasons behind the times, but I just discovered the Comedy Central show, “Reno 911. A friend sent me a clip of a guy getting pulled over for drunk driving and the trooper makes him dance. It’s hysterical. I had no idea the show even existed.

Last night I was channel surfing and found the show, I watched about 10 minutes of it then just decided to make a Season Pass to record all of them. I just went to their website and you can see that clip along with many others. Too funny.

Check it out

How Nerdy are you?

OK here’s Amy’s score:
I am nerdier than 51% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I think it’s a little skewed because it asks about high school which I was anything but nerdy, but compared to all my friends (except of course, Greg) I am way nerdy.

Here’s Greg’s:
I am nerdier than 88% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

In a little cafe…

This morning I had some errands to run before work. So I went to Calhoun Square. I was planning on picking up my contacts but the store wasn’t open until 10 so I had an hour to kill. Nothing was open. Apparently Uptown Minneapolis doesn’t open until 10am. Well, good old Starbucks was open. I prefer Caribou but didn’t prefer walking an extra few blocks.

So I grabbed a frappucino and sat outside. It was a little chilly but really quite nice. I had nothing to do (no book stores open either) so I played a game on my cell phone. Meanwhile a man came and sat down at a table near me and lit up a cigarette. For some reason it smelled SOOOOO good to me. I felt like I was on vacation sitting in a little café in Copenhagen or something. It was quite nice. The hour actually went by very quickly. And I did well on my game.

Then I had to race home to meet the Minnegasco man who was to take a look at our dead clothes dryer. Turned out to be a clogged vent. Which is good, because Greg was all ready to buy a new dryer.

Crushed

I don’t know who is reading this, but if you know me personally you know I have a very large and potentially unhealthy crush on Ben Affleck.** Well, we were watching “Project Greenlight last night and I was delighted that he was in this episode as much. I am especially glad I was watching it on my 10-foot movie screen. Mmmmmm….

But then there was this scene/part (do they call them scenes in reality shows?) where he was eating pizza. He was sitting at a table with all the other guys and going to town on this pizza that actually looked really good.

I noted that he was eating leaning directly over the rest of the pizza so that if anything fell out of his mouth it would land right on it. But I let that go. Until he grabbed something off the scruff of his face and thwacked it down RIGHT into the box on the rest of the pieces!

I kept hoping that it was his own personal pizza and that everyone had their own, but when I saw the rest of the room there were no others and they were all eating pieces that looked exactly like his (looked like kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, feta—I’m hungry just thinking about it)

Oh well. So he’s not perfect. I guess I knew that. It just seems like an arrogant thing to do and I don’t want him to be arrogant. I wonder if that’s why I had a dream last night that Matt Damon had a crush on me?

**not unhealthy for him, I’m not a stalker or anything.

~UPDATE: OK my crush is over. While watching “The Soup” yesterday they broke in to annouce that Jennifer Garner is pregnant. So I guess he’s off the market. Doesn’t really matter now does it, since I was off the market 7 years ago. :)
Actually, I’m happy for him. They’re an adorable couple.

We Are Family

More family weirdness…I just discovered I have a cousin in Alberta Canada. She wrote to me because she found me online and we share a not-so-common last name. Turns out we’re second cousins. She has a brother too so I’ve got two more, really!

Cool…I’ve always wanted to visit Canada.
