Murphy got a haircut.

It was way past time. He was so shaggy he couldn’t see. He came in from outside the other day with a leaf hanging over his eye like and eye patch and he didn’t even know it.

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything. Hell, I don’t even know if anyone reads these. But I read a bunch of blogs everyday and I know it’s a bummer when I visit and the person hasn’t posted anything new in a month. I’ve just been really busy. I usually get to do these at work but we just moved our offices so I haven’t had much free time.

So yeah, my office is now in Eden Prairie. But at least it doesn’t smell like an outhouse. I heard a rumor that our slumlo…er..landlord is going to tear the whole building down. I would too, it’s filled with mold and whatever makes the dirty diaper smell and there doesn’t seem to be any way to fix it without tearing down all the walls. It’s disgusting. So I said goodbye to the shit hole yesterday when I went back to retrieve my calendar that I left hanging on the wall.

The new place is nice; it just smells like paint and new carpet. I just wish it wasn’t in Eden Prairie, that’s all. It’s going to take me hours to get home in the winter when it’s icy. Say goodbye to happy hour. That’s probably for the best anyway. Thing is, the reason I even applied for the job was that it was close to home.

What else? My Dad recovered from his appendectomy but they think there’s some other kind of abscess thing going on so they will have to go back in. He already had one of those; he had to wear a drain (that’s all I’m going to say because it’s making me nauseous). Hope he’ll be OK.

Misha is still hanging in there. She’s actually much happier than she was even a few months ago. At least she’s acting like it. She sleeps a lot, but you would too if you were, what? 130 years old. But she’s even playing again. She was attacking a rubber band the other day. She’s doing very well, and though I know she doesn’t have a long time ahead of her, I’m grateful for the extra time since I really thought we’d lose her a month ago.

Dudley is now on MySpace so you can visit him there, and if you’re a member, be his friend: Dudley’s MySpace

You can be my friend too:
Amy’s MySpace

I’ll say it’s a little embarrassing that my dog has more friends than I do.

Big surprise

You are Agonistic

You’re not sure if God exists, and you don’t care.
For you, there’s no true way to figure out the divine.
You rather focus on what you can control – your own life.
And you tend to resent when others “sell” religion to you.

I’ve taken these before and I get the same answer (pretty much) every time so must be right!

Just an update

The party is coming up on Saturday. Mary came over yesterday and showed me the loot she got for decorating. It’s hilarious. She’s so good at that type of thing. Me? I just made a Redneck Twister game and a gorgeously hideous cowboy boot vase. But last night I made the Hot Cheesy Balls (mmmmm) so I’ve gotten a start on the food anyway.

Sounds like there’s going to be more than 50 people there! Egad!! That’s a lot! And my guess is I won’t know about 48 of them. Oh well. Maybe this is a good opportunity to tell more people about my Parlor Parties and start getting that attendance up to reasonable numbers.

Misha is doing really well. We have not been giving her the Sub-Q as often as we should. But she doesn’t seem to act/feel any different whether we do it or not. So I called the vet yesterday so ask if I could stop it and she said no. As long as she seems happy we’ll play it by ear. She gets it every 2 or 3 days now (instead of 2x a day, f*ck that noise, the vet just wants me to buy more needles, bags and drip sets).

Good news coming after all that bad:

**Greg does NOT have to go to India, at least until next year.
**My friend does NOT have breast cancer.
**My Dad did have to have another surgery because of the abscess but he’s doing fine (the other side to this, is he’s supposed to go to Paris next week. You now, Paris, where all the car torching and firebombing is taking place).
**Republicans are going DOWN in most of the elections I have heard about.

What’s New?

What’s new, you ask?
Well, now that I have a moment…

My life has been one big bowl of steaming chaos lately. Let’s see if I can do this in order:

*We’re remodeling the carriage house, things are going smoothly as far as the work getting done, but it’s expensive and we’re struggling with scraping the money together to do it. I just saw the checking account balance yesterday and had a minor panic attack.

*Misha got really sick, as you know. She is hanging in there, but every time I go look for her there’s a little part of me that is afraid I’ll find her not breathing. For those of you who may think I’m keeping her alive when I shouldn’t, she really seems happy. Come on over and see for yourself! She’s sleeping with us, purring, eating (voraciously) and jumping on furniture. So I don’t think she’s ready to go yet.

*Greg has been contacted by a headhunter that would like him to interview for a job in Detroit. Yes, De-fucking-troit. I am not moving. So he would either tele-commute, or the headhunter may be able to get him something else. Or, nothing and he’ll just stay where he is.

*We’re having a party in a week and I’m not ready. I have to decide on food and part of me wants to cook it early, but I don’t think Ritz crackers with squeezy cheese will last for a week in the freezer.

*Tuesday night Jackie called to tell me that my Dad’s appendix burst. So he is in the hospital. He’ll be fine, I think. He’s pretending it doesn’t hurt, but I can see that it does, even though he’s on percoset.

*Yesterday I got a call from a friend that I haven’t seen in while explaining that the reason it seems like she’s fallen off the face of the earth is that she was pre-diagnosed with breast cancer. WTF? I’m waiting to hear from her on test results now.

What’s happening?! When it rains…I guess.

Is anyone else finding that they’re feeling bombarded with stuff right now? None of it good by the way.

I did buy a lottery ticket yesterday and haven’t checked my number yet, off to do that now.

UPDATE!!! No lottery win, (I matched one number, but not the Powerball so it doesn’t count) HOWEVER, got some news better than lottery win…my friend who thought she might have breast cancer does NOT!! Yay!!!
