My week is just great, how about you?

Well, this week has completely sucked ass and it’s only Tuesday. I guess it actually started last week.

Last Wednesday I was told that our new director plans to move me to the “campus” which is a fancy name for the corporate office that smells like piss and is way the fuck out in Victoria. Can you tell I have a really good attitude about this?

Not only do I hate driving and already think that I drive too far as it is, but I actually really love my current job and it’s basically being taken away from me. His motives are good as long as they are what he says they are (and I have no reason to believe otherwise) but they seriously interfere with my happiness. Today it was confirmed. I had written up my appeal and all the reasons I thought it wise to leave me where I am my plea fell on deaf ears. I might as well have been talking to a wall. He was nice and basically begged me not to leave, but stuck to his guns and refused to compromise.

So I am looking for another job. If any of you know of anything that is Internet related, web design, search engine marketing, database design, etc let me know.

Yesterday I got my car towed. Me and the other 700 some people in Minneapolis. It was so stupid. My car was in a perfectly good spot out front where they aren’t supposed to plow until tomorrow. But Greg convinced me that I should move my car into the garage (he left for Detroit at 4am) so I tried. But the city was working on the water main and had blocked off the entire street. I didn’t know this until I got in my car and rocked my way out of the parking spot I had. I couldn’t get back into my old spot since the snow was up to my boobs. So I found another spot one block back, parallel to our house. Silly me, I thought they were doing only the snow emergency routes that day. I had looked out my window every ten minutes until the street was open again and when I went to get my car, it was gone. Two hours and $140 later I learned that they towed it approximately 15 minutes after I’d parked it. I also learned that they changed the snow emergency rules especially for this storm. Isn’t that nice? Can they even do that? I have the rules memorized; I know where I can park. They can’t go changing them on me. Asshats.

Oh and remember how I said that they were working on the water main? This meant that I had no water in the house all day…well from 9am to about 1pm. So I couldn’t shower. Meaning that I was just as stinky as all the other people in line at the impound lot.

Did I mention it’s only Tuesday?

Movie Night #1

We had our first movie night last night. Since it was Chinese New Year’s Eve we went with the Chinese theme. So we watched “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Kung Fu Hustle”. Netflix screwed up and didn’t send the latter so we had to go out Friday night and buy it.

We served sesame noodles (for longevity), salad (Prosperity), and Jody brought oranges (I don’t remember what they’re for). I made pot stickers (for wealth) earlier in the day, but we didn’t end up cooking them up because people weren’t really eating. We also had some non-symbolic things like egg rolls, wasabi peas, rice crackers, teriyaki beef sticks and stuff like that.

Oh and of course we had drinks. Many. Strong. Drinks.

Grilled Pork Chops With Wilted Greens And Garlic-almond Sauce

I’ve made this several times. The nutritional values are anything but nutritional but I think the main reason is that it calls for ½ cup of olive oil for the sauce, which I’ve never used. I use *maybe* a quarter cup. Mine is more like a paste than sauce.

I also think 10 ounces of pork is a bit much for one person. Being that the recommended portion size is 3 oz., 10 oz. more than enough for three people. So I’d change that to, maybe 4-ounce chops. Also most times I make this, I can’t find Arugula in the store so I use just spinach and while the Arugula adds a nice peppery taste, spinach alone is just fine. Oh and I use Balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar. So does that make this my own recipe now? See I can’t leave anything alone.

In the photo this is served with mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese mixed it. The potatoes come from the leftovers from making the sauce. It’s hard to only boil part of a potato. Serve with steamed broccoli too.

Grilled Pork Chops With Wilted Greens And Garlic-almond Sauce

Recipe By :Tom Fitzmorris
From “Bon Appetit April 1994″

Amount Measure Ingredient — Preparation Method
——– ———— ——————————–
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon Fresh Rosemary — finely chopped
4 10 Oz Pork Chops — center-cut
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Large Onion — sliced
3 Cups Fresh Spinach — stems removed
3 Cups Arugula — stems removed
2 Teaspoons Red Wine Vinegar
Garlic Almond Sauce
1/2 Cup Russet Potato — peeled and diced
1/4 Cup Blanched Almonds — toasted
3 Garlic Cloves
1/4 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Teaspoon Red Wine Vinegar
1/2 Cup Olive Oil

Combine first 3 ingredients in baking dish. Add pork; turn to coat. Chill at least one hour and up to 6 hours.

Then make the sauce:
Cook potato in boiling water until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain: cool. Mince almonds and garlic in processor. Add potato; puree. Blend in lemon juice and vinegar. With processor running slowly add oil. Season with salt and pepper. Serve at room temperature.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Heat heavy large ovenproof skillet over high heat. Season pork with pepper. Add to skillet; cook until brown, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer skillet to oven; bake until pork is cooked through, about 8 minutes.

Meanwhile heat olive oil in another large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; sauté until tender, about 6 minutes. Add greens sauté until wilted, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with vinegar; season with salt and pepper.

Divide greens among 4 plates. Top with pork. Serve with sauce.

Sad News

anna.jpg
So by now you’ve all heard the sad news about Anna Nicole. I feel bad for her. I actually always have. I know, I know I dressed up as her for Halloween, my “thing being that I got drunk and lost my baby (doll) several times throughout the night. But I didn’t actually get drunk enough. Not to Anna Nicole proportions, anyway. But who does really?

But anyway, it was all done in love. When [her show] was on the air I really felt someone was going to be sent to jail for exploiting a vulnerable adult. Seriously, I think she would be considered developmentally delayed, though not from developing wrong, but because of all the drugs. I work in the field, I know from DD. It was hard to watch.

But then the car crash that is her life just got worse from there. And I watched, I did.

My first thought upon hearing the news was that she killed herself. But then the pieces started falling together making it look like a murder. Have you realized how many people have died around her? Her step-bother, her son, now her. If that little Dannilyn dies anytime soon, well…

Yesterday I got calls from two of my friends asking how I was taking the news. Jody said, “…because I know she was your idol. Heh, well I still have Courtney Love.

So goodbye Anna (or should I call you Vickie?), we’ll miss your shenanigans. Hopefully you’re with Danny now. And Angelina, please adopt Dannilyn.

[Her website is sad]
