I belong to the very prestigious Cooking Club of America. OK, it’s not that prestigious, I just shelled out a lot of money.

Other than a lifetime subscription to the magazine (which is really good) I got some cool stuff. An apron with my name on it, a cutting board, a spoon rest, and a full set of cookware. It’s not All-Clad but it’s pretty good.

One of the perks is that I get to test products. Sometimes is dumb stuff like a spice packet or a bookmark. But the last thing I tested was a panini grill. I may have mentioned it here; I know I did on my [cooking blog].

Anyway, what we do is they send us something to test and a form to fill out with our opinions. If the product gets good reviews it makes it to the magazine.

The other day I was looking in the mag for ideas for what to make for dinner and I got to the tester page and saw the grill. I thought, “hey! I reviewed that!� then ….�hey! there I am!� My comments made it to the magazine!

Another favorite. This one came from a cookbook called “Intercourses” by Martha Hopkins-Randall Lockridge. The book has many wonderful recpes including my favorite enchiladas on the face of the earth. But that’s another post.

If you are squeamish or guilty about eating lamb (I am a little) then you could use pork or beef. Heck, even tofu might work.

Rosemary Scented Lamb Over Pasta

Serving Size: 2

>2 Garlic Cloves — chopped

5 Ounces Lamb — cut into strips

½ Red Pepper — cut into strips

¼ Cup Dry White Wine

1 ½ Cups Crushed Tomatoes

1 Sprig Rosemary

2 T Heavy Cream

Salt And Pepper

½ Pound Rigatoni — cooked

¼ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

1 Teaspoon Chopped Fresh Rosemary

1 Teaspoon Chopped Fresh Sage

1 Teaspoon Chopped Fresh Oregano

Sauté garlic, lamb and bell pepper until the lamb is tender. Over high heat, deglaze pan with the wine, cooking until the liquid is almost evaporated. Add the tomato and rosemary. Simmer for 15 minutes.

Stir in cream, salt and pepper. Cook until heated through. Toss with warm rigatoni. Garnish with the cheese, rosemary, sage and oregano. Serve immediately.

Friday night we were at (where else?) Aura. A guy came in and sat next to us and being who we are we starting chatting. I see him look past me and he says, “Oh my god. It’s Mike Farrell.” I looked over my shoulder and yep, Mike Farrell was standing right next me. The guy we were talking to asked him if he was doing a book signing across the street (Magers and Quinn , a great store) he said he was. I didn’t even know he was a writer.

He was very kind and looked great. The bartender had heard us talking to him and he was trying to figure out who Mike Farrell is and then he got it and he said, “Oh you were on that sitcom MASH!” Farrell was walking out of the bar walking past me and I said, “Sitcom?! It wasn’t a sitcom.” I guess he heard me because he tapped me on the shoulder and winked.

Then we spent the next hour or so discussing the difference between a sitcom and a quality show that just happens to be really funny at times. What do you think? Discuss.
